On Friday, a U.S. auto safety regulator announced that it was conducting an investigation into 368,309 Ford (F.N), opens new tab crossover SUVs in the country due to a rear brake hose failure that resulted in a loss of deceleration.
“The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that the preliminary evaluation will encompass certain Ford Edge crossovers from the 2015-2017 model years.”
The regulator also stated that the complaints allege that the loss of braking ability occurs without any prior warning and results in a longer stopping distance.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 36 complaints regarding braking failures in 2015-2017 for Ford Edge automobiles. The EPA is investigating around 368,000 vehicles potentially impacted by a rear brake line failure that could impede the vehicle’s quick-stopping capacity.
Ford is recalling over 90,000 vehicles due to a potential engine failure
- Affected vehicles2021–2022 Ford Bronco, Edge, Explorer, and F-150, and the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus
- Number of recalls 15,835 for the Bronco, 2,366 for the Edge, 14,262 for the Explorer, 47,719 for the F-150, 7,199 for the Aviator, and 3,355 for the Nautilus
The recall is due to faulty intake valves in the 2.7- and 3.0-liter EcoBoost engines. The valves could break and fall into the combustion chamber, causing the engine to fail.
The remedy is a free engine cycle test and replacement if necessary, to be performed by a dealer. Owners will be notified by mail from October 7.

You anticipate complete reliability and minimal issues when purchasing a vehicle from a reputable brand such as Ford. Nevertheless, it is possible for even the most reputable manufacturers to overlook a few issues. While some Ford car defects are relatively minor, others can be more severe and necessitate immediate attention.
Ford vehicles, like any other brand, can experience common issues that affect some models more than others. These problems can vary depending on the specific vehicle, but here are some of the most frequently reported issues
Transmission Problems
- Transmission issues have been extensively documented in Ford Focus and Fiesta models manufactured between 2011 and 2016. The dual-clutch automatic transmission (Powershift) in these variants frequently encounters problems such as jerking, shuddering, hesitation, and difficultly shifting gears. This has resulted in numerous complaints and litigation.
- Delayed engagement, slippage, and difficult shifting have been reported by certain proprietors.
Electrical System Issues
- Battery depletion: Ford Escape and Explorer owners have reported unexpected battery depletion. This may result from electrical components that are not functioning correctly, such as the SYNC infotainment system failing to shut off properly.
- Additionally, electrical component failures have been attributed to wiring issues and defective alternators.
Engine and Cooling System
- There have been reports of cooling system failure and combustion in certain Ford EcoBoost engines, particularly the 1.6L engine found in models such as the Ford Escape and Fusion. This can result in engine damage if not addressed promptly.
- Engine Stalling: Fuel system malfunctions or defective engine components have resulted in engine stalling in certain Ford models. In certain instances, Ford F-150 trucks are known to experience intermittent halting issues.
Steering Issues
- The Ford Explorer (2011–2013) is among the Ford vehicles that have been the subject of complaints regarding power steering failure. The vehicle is now difficult to steer at low velocities due to the malfunction of the electric power steering (EPS) system. Recalls were initiated as a result of this matter.
Door Latch Failures
- Faulty door closures have been reported in numerous Ford models, such as the Ford Fusion and Escape. The door may not secure properly, resulting in the possibility of an unexpected opening while driving. This has resulted in recalls and has been a safety concern.
Excessive Oil Consumption
- It has been reported that certain Ford models equipped with EcoBoost engines utilize oil at an abnormal rate. This has had a particularly significant impact on models such as the Ford Escape and Fusion. Engine damage can result from excessive oil consumption if the oil levels are not adequately monitored.
Suspension Issues
- There have been reports of premature wear in the suspension parts of some Ford Edge and Ford Explorer models, which results in clunking noises and poor handling qualities.
- Older Ford cars frequently have worn-out ball joints or bushings, which can cause uneven tire wear and steering issues.
Infotainment System Glitches
- Many Ford models’ SYNC infotainment system has drawn criticism for regular malfunctions like unresponsive touchscreens, trouble connecting to Bluetooth, and inaccurate navigation. Models such as the Ford Explorer and Escape frequently have these problems.
Recalls
- Recalls have been issued for a number of Ford models due to problems with the fuel tank, brakes, and airbags. It’s critical to look for active recalls for particular models.
Regular maintenance and addressing known issues early can help mitigate some of these problems, but these concerns have persisted across various models over time.
